The core pathway

From your first lesson to Grade 8 and beyond

Every instrument and vocal student follows a mapped journey with regular assessments and a Student Progress Report. Graded exams are with ISoM, RSL Rockschool, Trinity College London and ABRSM. Each course page shows its roadmap, quarter by quarter.

  1. BeginnerBasics of Music 1: posture, technique, rhythm and your first songs. Ages 3+, with two lessons a week for children under 11.
  2. FoundationBasics of Music 2: scales, chords, simple pieces and ear training, plus your first recital or Jam'In.
  3. Grades Initial to 3Grade Education Program: exam pieces, technical work, sight-reading and aural tests with Trinity College London, RSL Rockschool or ISoM. Ages 6+.
  4. Grades 4 and 5Wider repertoire, stylistic control and music theory, performing regularly at our recitals.
  5. Grades 6 to 8Performers Program: advanced repertoire, stage presence and ensemble work, on a mapped journey with regular assessments. Ages 12+.
  6. Beyond Grade 8Pathways Audition Program with Search Education: portfolio, audition preparation and applications to music colleges abroad.

Performing musician

Grade Education to the Performers Program, with five or more live shows a year and monthly Jam'In sessions.

Vocal artist

Western vocals (pop, rock, musical theatre, jazz, Bollywood) or Hindustani classical, from first lesson to Grade 8 and beyond.

Composer and songwriter

Young Composer, the flagship one-year programme: 192 lessons over four terms, songwriting in seven genres, two Trinity or ABRSM grades, three mastered tracks and a live showcase.

Music producer

Music Production Essentials (3 months), then the MP Career Accelerator or Creator Program (6 months each), on their own or combined. Point Blank or Dolby Institute certificate.

DJ

A course of up to a year in four stages, Foundations, Mixing, Set building and Showcase, ending in a live set at a student showcase.

Orchestral musician

Strings, winds and choir, leading into the Delhi Chamber Orchestra, a student-led classical orchestra with 70+ performers.

Music college abroad

After Grade 8, the Pathways Audition Program with Search Education: portfolio, audition preparation and applications to music colleges abroad.

Starting young

The K-12 Program for ages 3 to 12: Montessori-led, from rhythm games to a first instrument, a first recital and a first graded exam.

Can I build a music career at Prism?

Prism's pathways run from your first lesson through graded exams with ISoM, RSL Rockschool, Trinity College London and ABRSM to the Performers Program, and on to Young Composer (composition, production, performance and music business), music production with a Point Blank or Dolby Institute certificate, and the Pathways Audition Program with Search Education for music colleges abroad.

Does Prism help students apply to music colleges abroad?

Yes. After Grade 8, the Pathways Audition Program with Search Education covers your portfolio, audition preparation and applications to music colleges abroad.

Which programme is for someone who wants to write and release their own music?

The Young Composer Program: one year, four terms and 192 lessons, ending with three mastered tracks, two Trinity or ABRSM grades and a live showcase.

How long does it take to reach Grade 8?

Each grade takes about six to nine months, so Debut to Grade 8 takes around five and three-quarter years for an average student who attends class every week and practises at home two or three times a week. Your teacher adjusts the pace to your progress, and every course page shows its quarter-by-quarter roadmap.

Where are Prism's schools?
