From your first lesson to Grade 8 and beyond
At our CR Park, South Delhi school we teach acoustic and digital piano and keyboard: classical, pop, jazz and film music. Every Delhi student follows a mapped journey with regular assessments and a Student Progress Report, so parents and learners always know the next step.
- 01BeginnerBasics of Music 1: posture, technique, rhythm and your first songs. Ages 3+, with two lessons a week for children under 11.
- 02FoundationBasics of Music 2: scales, chords, simple pieces and ear training, plus your first recital or Jam'In.
- 03Grades Initial to 3Grade Education Program: exam pieces, technical work, sight-reading and aural tests with ABRSM, Trinity College London, ISoM or LCME. Ages 6+.
- 04Grades 4 and 5Wider repertoire, stylistic control and music theory, performing regularly at our recitals.

Your journey
Your piano roadmap, quarter by quarter
About six months per grade up to Grade 3, then about nine months per grade to Grade 8: around five and three-quarter years for an average student who attends class every week and practises at home two or three times a week. Aligned to the current ABRSM, Trinity, RSL and LCME syllabi. At our Chittaranjan Park school in New Delhi, your teacher follows this path with you, and you perform at Prism’s recitals and Jam’In along the way. How your progress works
- Counselling assessmentYour teacher assesses rhythm, melody, reading and coordination on a 1 to 5 scale, then suggests a starting grade.
- Grade placementYou start at the grade that fits you: Debut for complete beginners, up to Grade 8 or Diploma.
- Quarter by quarterEach grade takes about six to nine months. Your teacher adjusts the pace to your progress.
- Ensemble readinessTeachers assess how you understand, perform and respond to music, then place you in a level 1, 2 or 3 ensemble when you are ready.
- ExamsGraded exams with RSL, ISoM or Trinity, as your course offers them, when you are ready.
- Certificate and stageA certificate as you complete each level, and a stage at our live shows, five or more a year.

What is the right age to start piano classes in Delhi?
We start piano from age 4. Adults are welcome at every level, including complete beginners.
How long does it take to learn piano?
Most beginners play simple pieces within their first two months of weekly lessons and regular practice. A first grade exam usually takes 6 to 12 months, depending on age, practice and the lesson plan.
Do I need my own instrument?
Instruments are available at the school for your lessons. For practice at home you will want your own, and your teacher will help you choose one. Prism students also get two practice sessions at the school for every class paid.
Can I take piano classes online?
Yes. You can learn at the school, online, or a mix of both, and switch between them.
What are the fees for piano classes in Delhi?

Can adults and complete beginners learn piano and keyboard?
Yes. Adults and complete beginners are welcome at our CR Park school. You start at the right level for you, move at your own pace, and graded exams are optional.
How long is each class, and is it one-to-one or group?
Classes are 45 minutes, one or two a week, one-to-one or in a small group. Children under 11 in Basics of Music take two lessons a week.
Which exams can I take in piano and keyboard?
We prepare students for ABRSM, Trinity College London, ISoM and LCME, when they are ready. Exams are optional, and your teacher will tell you when you are ready for your first grade.
Do you teach keyboard as well as piano?
Yes. We teach acoustic and digital piano and keyboard, across classical, pop, jazz and film music, so you can learn on whichever you have at home.

Students come to Piano lessons here from Chittaranjan Park, Nehru Enclave, Greater Kailash Enclave, Masjid Moth, Greater Kailash II and nearby.
