Getting started

How to Choose a Music School in South Delhi or Faridabad: A Parent's Checklist

Prism School of Music mentors and team together on stage

Quick answer: Choose a music school that has a structured graded curriculum, teachers who perform, regular assessments with progress reports, recognised exam boards, real performance opportunities and a free demo, at a location and timing your child can attend every week. Check its Google reviews, and visit before you enrol.

The checklist

  • A structured curriculum. Ask to see what your child will learn this quarter and this year. Good schools map every instrument grade by grade, not lesson by lesson.
  • Teachers who perform. Musicians who play on stage and in studios teach what real music needs: timing, feel and confidence.
  • Regular assessment. Look for internal assessments and written progress reports, so you know whether your child is moving forward.
  • Recognised exams, when ready. Ask which boards the school prepares students for, and whether exams are optional.
  • Real performances. Recitals and jam sessions turn practice into confidence.
  • Format and timings. One-to-one or small group, weekdays or weekends, at the school or online: choose what your family can keep up every week.
  • Reviews and a free demo. Read recent Google reviews, then meet the teacher at a demo before you commit.

Questions to ask at a demo

  • What will my child be able to play after three months?
  • How do you report progress to parents?
  • Which exam boards do you use, and when would my child be ready?
  • How often do students perform?
  • Can my child add a second instrument or switch later?

How Prism answers that checklist

Prism has taught music since 2020, with schools in South Delhi, Faridabad and Gurgaon, plus Origin Story Music School, rated an average of 4.7 from 309 Google reviews across the four. Every instrument has a quarter-by-quarter roadmap, students get weekly internal assessments and a Student Progress Report, and our mentors are working musicians. Exams are optional, with ISoM as our main board and Trinity College London, RSL Rockschool, ABRSM and LCME also available, and students perform at recitals at The Piano Man and Hard Rock Cafe and at the monthly Jam'In.
